Anthony Weiner Alibi?

My friend and I had a disagreement in which he stated that I misunderstood the meaning of the word alibi. I had stated that the politician's claim, that a hacker had posted lewd photos of Anthony Weiner's penis in order to make a joke about the politician's last name, was a good alibi. Is my friend correct, or was this an "alibi."
